The three-phase UPS family consists of high performance and reliable systems providing critical power protection for a wide range of applications. Paralleling up to eight UPS units with GE’s unique RPA™ technology (Redundant Parallel Architecture™) further increases reliability. With this technology every UPS is controlled in a true peer-to-peer configuration with redundancy in all critical elements and functions. The decentralized bypass offers great flexibility to up- or downgrade the system if requirements change in the future.

By applying redundant distribution networks you can further increase reliability. A Static Transfer Switch is able to select between two sources (UPS groups). As a standard, the Static Transfer Switch will supply the load from the preferred source. In case the main source fails, it will transfer the load to the alternative source. The Static Transfer Switch needs to be close to the load in order to minimize the failure rate of the distribution network down-stream.

A key condition is that both sources are synchronized continuously, also during battery operation.

The ISM allows the synchronization of two independent groups of parallel UPSs each containing a maximum of six UPS units of equal rating from 10-500kVA. The redundant power supply and communication with the parallel groups (as with GE's unique RPA™) makes the ISM highly reliable, ensuring synchronization of the two groups at each condition.
