Awards of Excellence  

Asia-Pacific Awards of Excellence are given to those projects that are judged to have best met the design criteria outlined in the rules and eligibility.
Asia-Pacific Awards of Merit
 
Awards of Merit   Asia-Pacific Awards of Merit are given to those projects that are judged to be superior lighting designs that meet the design criteria outlined in the Rules and Eligibility, but not at the same level of achievement as the Asia-Pacific Awards of Excellence.
Asia-Pacific Awards for Sustainable Design
 
Awards for Sustainable Design   Asia-Pacific Awards for Sustainable Design, which is a facet of the global GE Edison Award program, gives special recognition to those projects that minimize the use of energy, maximize the use of daylighting, avoid skyward illumination, and ensure system durability and maintainability.
Asia-Pacific Awards for Residential Design
 
Awards for Residential Design   Asia-Pacific Award for Residential Design, Residential lighting projects submitted as entrants to the 2007 GE Edison Award - Asia Pacific competition will also be entered into a special category established for residential projects only.

Projects scoring the highest number of points will qualify for Asia-Pacific Awards of Merit and Asia-Pacific Awards of Excellence.

Qualifying entries remain anonymous throughout the judging process and are evaluated equally, regardless of type or size of project. The decision of the judges is final.

All entrants will be invited to the Asia awards ceremony, which will take place in spring 2009. At that time, designers who have been chosen as winners of the Asia-Pacific Award of Excellence, Asia-Pacific Award of Merit, Asia-Pacific Award for Sustainable Design and Asia-Pacific Award for Residential Design will receive:

  • Winners of these awards will be automatically entered into the global GE Edison Award competition. (Other participants may also enter the global GE Edison Award competition directly through the process outlined in GE Edison Award Call for Entries | www.geedisonaward.com
  • An invitation to the Asia awards ceremony, including round-trip airfare for one from a major metropolitan airport to the location of the awards ceremony, ground transportation, and hotel accommodations the night before and the night after the awards ceremony
  • Media exposure in Asia
  • A personalized plaque acknowledging their lighting design achievements

The identity of the 2009 global GE Edison Award Winner, selected from among the Awards of Excellence, will remain confidential until announced at the award ceremony. The winner will receive a personalized Steuben Crystal Trophy and continued publicity throughout the following year. A distinctive plaque will also be presented to the owner of the winning installation.
